We’ re all looking for a little escape right now. Life can be pretty stressful, and the last few years have been nothing if not challenging. So sometimes you don’ t want to end your day with a run-and-gun shooter or stressful survival game. You just would like to relax.
What could be nicer than puttering around in your boat on the rolling waves?
Submerged: Hidden Depths is all about giving you that sense of relaxation and escape. The Submerged games provide you with a chill world that you can explore at your own pace.
Set in a huge flooded city, you guide siblings Miku and Taku as they vessel around, searching for buildings to climb, problems to solve, plus the answer to a very deep mystery. Yes, there are puzzles, but the mechanics are designed in order to be simple enough not to tax your brain too much – instead, you get to focus on finding your own path through the ruins, and unraveling the story you find scattered throughout.
The city itself has its own beauty. There are sunsets in addition to rainstorms; the glow of the particular moon on the water at midnight; typically the thrill of distant thunder, and even the ever-present and soothing sound of the ocean. Mysterious wildlife that you can approach and discover. If you find a view you think is particularly pretty, you can even use the game’ s photo mode to take a snapshot.
Submerged: Hidden Depths also lets you scratch that collector itch, with objects hidden all over the place; hanging off the sides of skyscrapers, hidden in one associated with the many nooks and crannies of the abandoned villages, or bubbling up from underneath the ocean. There’ s lots to find, and no time limit to be able to rush you through the experience.
We hope Submerged: Hidden Depths will help you forget about your troubles, even for a little bit. You deserve that break.
