The extent of Jamie Spears’ control over his daughter during the conservatorship is still mind-boggling to us.
We had previously heard from whistleblower Alex Vlasov, a former employee of Black Box Security, that Britney Spears had long been under intense surveillance in her conservatorship when he was interviewed for the New York Times documentary Controlling Britney Spears.

Now, Brit’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart has submitted to the court a new filing against Jamie which includes a corroboration of Vlasov’s story from ex-FBI agent Sherine Ebadi. Ebadi is currently the associate managing director in the Forensic Investigations and Intelligence at Kroll Associates, which was retained by the singer’s law firm. During her government career, she was a member of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s team which investigated Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, per Page Six.
Long story short, Ebadi is the real deal. And in a court declaration filed last week, she confirmed that she had debriefed Vlasov on his claims and found him “highly-credible.” She alleged that her filings “raise criminal implications” for the Spears patriarch, stating that he “engaged in and directed others to engage in unconscionable violations of [Britney’s] privacy and civil liberties.”
Her statement read:
“I corroborated the Times‘s reporting on Mr. Spears’s extensive, surveillance efforts, including of Ms. Spears’s attorney-client communications and private conversations in her bedroom.”
According to the filing, Black Box was already monitoring the Grammy winner when Vlasov was hired in 2012. When he came aboard to assist the company’s owner Edan Yemini, he was tasked with “finding monitoring software and installing it as a hidden app” on Britney’s phone.
The filing explained:
“Mr. Vlasov was tasked with reviewing the monitored content and relaying that information through Yemini to [Jamie]. Sometimes, Mr. Vlasov provided information on [Britney’s] monitored communications directly to [Jamie].”
It went on:
“According to Mr. Vlasov, Black Box sent [Britney’s] personal communications to [Jamie] at his explicit request.”
The Lucky artist’s father “would on occasion” ask to see his daughter’s “therapy notes or text messages,” which is such a gross violation we can’t even comprehend it. And according to Page Six, the practice continued even after he stepped down as conservator of her person in 2019. In fact, the surveillance as a whole reportedly didn’t even stop until early 2021.
That surveillance wasn’t limited to monitoring her phone, either:
“Black Box was initially responsible for suggesting that a secret listening device be planted in Ms. Spears bedroom, but Mr. Spears ‘loved’ the idea and approved and instructed that the installation move forward.”
Disgusting.
Ebadi added:
“The Black Box employee who placed the secret device in [Britney’s] bedroom explained to Mr. Vlasov that he did so by duct-taping it behind furniture so it could not be seen and that he added a separate battery pack to the recording device to permit continuous recording for a longer period of time.”
The court documents assert that Ebadi “personally reviewed” communications from Vlasov’s personal devices that supposedly proved these monitoring allegations. He allegedly told the investigator that there were “hundreds of hours of audio recording” between 2016 and 2018, including conversations between the 40-year-old and her boyfriend and her sons.

Not only that, but the docs also revealed:
“Communications between Ms. Spears and her personal court-appointed attorney, Sam Ingham, were among the private communications that Black Box and Mr. Spears monitored. Mr. Vlasov told me that Mr. Spears was particularly interested in his daughter’s attorney-client communications and wanted regular updates from Black Box on the substance of those privileged messages. Surveillance of Ms. Spears’s communications with her lawyer continued until at least 2020, when [Yemini] instructed Mr. Vlasov to cease reviewing attorney-client privileged communications.”
WTF?! You may remember that after the Times doc, Jamie’s lawyers didn’t deny working with Black Box but claimed that all his actions were “well within the parameters” of his role as conservator. But as Ebadi noted in her statement, The California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) “requires that all parties consent to a recording of their confidential conversations” and not doing so could lead to “criminal penalties.” Really seems like Britney could get her wish about sending her dad to jail.
BTW, on top of all of this gross (possibly criminal) invasion of privacy, Kroll Associates concluded that Black Box was paid about $6 million from Britney’s estate. She was technically paying to have her civil rights violated. As if this situation couldn’t get any worse!
We can’t even wrap our heads around all these many violations, so we can’t imagine what it was like for Britney to live through this. She absolutely has a right to her anger, and we can only hope she gets the justice she deserves.
