There might not be anything particularly inspiring about the weather right now, but I have to admit that as I’ve been browsing the new-in section of MATCHESFASHION.COM, I can’t help but feel my spirit lift in anticipation of the year ahead. There are a few themes, in particular, that I’ve been keeping an eye out for, some of which are classics that remain on my “forever” shopping list while others are pieces that are designed to add a little oomph to the basics already residing in my wardrobe.
First and foremost, I’ll be sticking to investment buys that can be worn now, while the mercury remains around the 8° mark, but will also have the capacity to be updated for spring (and in some cases, summer). A shearling jacket is a definite cold-weather hero that will never not be on my wish list, but by opting for a shorter length, I’ll be able to keep wearing it even as we approach March. (I’ll just style it with jeans and a white tee for spring-ready dressing.) Wide-leg trousers, meanwhile, really are a year-round staple and will look just as good with a slouchy knit and a leather jacket now as they will with a tank top and sandals come summer. So if you’re in need of a little new-season inspo to get your creative juices flowing, scroll down to see and shop the five trends I’m bookmarking for 2022.
