Amandla Stenberg is in talks for the lead role in the upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
Lucasfilm is working on a number of Star Wars projects for Disney Plus, with shooting on The Mandalorian season three currently happening in Los Angeles, and Ahsoka gearing up for a start in March. Lucasfilm is also developing a mysterious project titled, The Acolyte, set during the end of the High Republic era. Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland is serving as the showrunner on the Star Wars series.
On Wednesday, The Illuminerdi first reported Amandla Stenberg was being eyed for the lead role in The Acolyte. Variety has now confirmed Stenberg is in talks to appear in the Star Wars universe. Stenberg is probably best known for their role as Rue in the first Hunger Games film, but has gone on to star in The Hate U Give, The Darkest Minds, Everything, Everything, and Dear Evan Hansen.

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and Kathleen Kennedy are all executive producers on The Mandalorian spinoff with episodes directed by Rodriguez, Favreau, Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Steph Green, and Kevin Tancharoen. The series stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals.
