Three years ago today, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched worldwide on Nintendo Switch. And what a game it turned out to be, huh?
With its constant character reveals, Nintendo Direct showcases, and internet memes aplenty, few games have had quite the impact on the gaming community that Ultimate has in recent times. While the game itself is brilliant fun, and objectively an impressive piece of work from a development and licensing point of view, we can’t help but feel that it’s everything surrounding the game – all of the hype, rumours, “leaks”, and discussion – that will really help Ultimate to stand out in the years to come.
