Vincent D’Onofrio reacted to a potential Kingpin design for his rumored appearance in Hawkeye.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe began its expansion into television earlier this year thanks to Disney Plus. Now, the newest event series Hawkeye is currently dropping new episodes every Wednesday, and fans are excited to see the new adventures of Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and newcomer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). However, there is one character that is rumored to appear that many fans are curious to see: Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).
Vincent D’Onofrio played Kingpin in Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix for three seasons. While the series was by far the most critically acclaimed of Netflix’s numerous Marvel TV shows, it was cancelled after three seasons, which many attribute to the ongoing streaming wars and the rise of Disney Plus. Rumors arose that the actor would be returning as the character in the Hawkeye series, but we have yet to receive official confirmation.
Interestingly enough, Vincent D’Onofrio was shared a potential design of himself as an alternate version of Kingpin that’s closer to the comic books and different from his look in the Netflix series. Upon seeing this on Twitter, the actor had a funny response to it:
Time will tell whether or not we will see Vincent D’Onofrio back as Kingpin in Hawkeye or any other Marvel Studios project, but the potential of seeing him and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil sometime in the future will certainly excite fans of the Netflix series that hoped to see the further adventures of the characters in a fourth season that was ultimately not meant to be.
Here is the synopsis for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye:
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh is expected to return in her Black Widow role.
The first two episodes of Hawkeye are now available to stream on Disney Plus, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays.
