Benedict Cumberbatch recently addressed the reports of lengthy reshoots for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Most Marvel film productions include reshoots, and news broke weeks ago that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be undergoing six more weeks of filming. The original report cited COVID and actor availability issues as the reasons for the reshoots.
While speaking to Empire, Benedict Cumberbatch backed up the report by opening up about the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reshoots that are currently underway:
“We’re in the middle of reshoots. We’re working incredibly hard to make a schedule work to realize the full potential of the film – bits that we want to do better but also bits that were just impossible to do on the day because of logistics, COVID, etc. We were so delayed in production, because of that. Luckily, not during production too much. Although everything is just a little slower.”
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will be seen next in Spider-Man: No Way Home:
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for May 6, 2022.
