Catwoman actress Halle Berry recently revealed that she would be interested in revisiting the character as a director.
Many actresses have taken a crack at Catwoman, with Zoe Kravitz becoming the latest to take on the role in next year’s The Batman. Over the years, there have also been rumors of many Catwoman solo projects with Kravitz, Anne Hathaway, and Michelle Pfeiffer. However, Halle Berry was the only one to play the character without a Batman.
Halle Berry’s Catwoman film is widely considered to be one of the worst comic book movies ever, but that isn’t stopping the Oscar-winning actress turned Bruised director from wanting to revisit the character. While speaking with Jake’s Takes, Berry said the following about a return to Catwoman:
“I would love to direct Catwoman. If I can get ahold of that now, knowing what I know, having had this experience [on ‘Bruised’], and reimagine that world the way I reimagined this story. ‘Bruised’ was written for a white Irish Catholic 25-year-old girl, and I got to reimagine it. I wish I could go back and reimagine Catwoman and redo that. Have a redo on that, now knowing what I know [about directing]. I would have Catwoman saving the world like most male superheroes do, and not just saving women from their faces cracking off. I would make the stakes a lot higher, and I think make it more inclusive of both men and women.”
Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming Batman film starring Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman:
“THE BATMAN is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.”
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
