A brand new concept design imagines Taron Egerton replacing Hugh Jackman as the first Wolverine to make its MCU debut.
A few tears were shed when Hugh Jackman officially retired from the role of Wolverine in 2017’s Logan. The film definitely concluded Jackman’s tenure for the character, closing out the possibility of a potential return. Now that Disney owns Fox, the studio behind the X-Men films, Marvel Studios now holds almost all of their characters, including Wolverine.
The X-Men are set to eventually make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it’s uncertain when that will happen. Fans are hoping to see the existing X-Men cast get folded into the MCU, though it’s unclear if the studio will go that route. Should the MCU recast, a fan-favorite to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine would be Taron Egerton.
Taron Egerton has been at the top of many fans’ lists as Wolverine. Egerton is best known for his work in The Kingsman films, as well as the Elton John biopic Rocketman.
It’s unknown what the future holds for Taron Egerton and the MCU’s Wolverine, but a brand new concept design by artist Mizuri gives us an insight as to what Egerton would look like as the infamous X-Men character.
While Taron Egerton hasn’t been confirmed as Wolverine for MCU, it’s still fascinating to imagine him as the character Hugh Jackman helped perfect. The MCU is set to spring wide-open with possibilties now that the multiverse is involved so, who knows? Maybe Hugh Jackman is willing to return as Wolverine, and perhaphs team up with an alternate version of himself, playing by Taron Egerton?
