Paramount has delayed Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to June 2023, and set a new Star Trek film for December 2023.
In the next couple of years, Paramount is looking to relaunch two of their prized franchises in Transformers and Star Trek. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take on the famous Beast Wars storyline with director Steven Caple Jr. and its star Anthony Ramos. Rise of the Beasts recently wrapped filming while a new Star Trek film is trying to get off the ground with WandaVision showrunner Matt Shakman set to direct.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was originally dated for June 24, 2022, but Paramount announced on Wednesday that they have pushed the film back a year to June 9, 2023. Meanwhile, Matt Shackman’s Star Trek film was initially on track for that June 9, 2023 release date, but has now moved back to December 22, 2023, where the now delayed Rogue Squadron Star Wars film from Patty Jenkins was dated.
Here is the synopsis for the most recent film in the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee:
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
Directed by Travis Knight from a script written by Christina Hodson, Bumblebee stars Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Ian Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny.
Bumblebee is available on Digital, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray, while Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
