Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia has teased the Dwayne Johnson character’s DCEU future and how a Wonder Woman crossover could be in the works.
After years of being stuck in development hell, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam has finally wrapped filming and is currently set to hit cinemas next year. The film is set to change the hierarchy of the DC Extended Universe, and the first footage from the project shows Johnson’s Black Adam literally obliterating enemies.
In a recent interview with Variety on the red carpet of Red Notice – Dwayne Johnson’s latest film -Hiram Garcia teased the future of the DCEU character and the plans the creative team has with the newly introduced Justice Society of America heroes.
“…[It’s] big and it’s a lot of fun…it’s got a lot of edge to it, and I think the world is ready.”
“When we do something like this, we’re looking at the entire DC Universe as a whole because with our movie, not only do we introduce Black Adam, but we introduce several characters. We have great ambitions and plans for what we want to do in the DC Universe, and we’re starting to work on that now as we start to roll out that plan.”
Seeing as Red Notice also stars Wonder Woman actor Gal Gadot, Garcia was asked to touch upon the heroine eventually crossing over with Black Adam.
“We gotta see them together somehow, so we’re working on it. Wonder Woman and Black Adam sharing the screen would be pretty awesome, and I honestly feel like Wonder Woman is one of the few superheroes that can go toe-to-toe with Black Adam.”
It sounds like Hiram Garcia is confident that a crossover can actually manifest. Dwayne Johnson is one of those Hollywood stars who always tends to follow through with projects and fan expectations, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Black Adam and Wonder Woman actually duke it out if it feels like a worthwhile crossover for the DCEU.
In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui are also on board in undisclosed roles. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing the movie with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon serves as an executive producer.
Black Adam is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the highly-anticipated Dwayne Johnson film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original content.
