Leslie Grace has shared a brand new behind-the-scenes video of her training for Batgirl.
HBO Max’s Batgirl is set to begin filming soon. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have tapped In The Heights star Leslie Grace to star as their Barbara Gordon. Details on the film are slim, though it was recently announced that Brendan Fraser would be playing Firefly, the project’s big bad. J. K. Simmons is also set to reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon in the HBO Max film, making this his second appearance in the DC Extended Universe. Simmons’ inclusion also confirms that the film is set in the “Snyderverse”, which means there’s a possibility that Grace’s Barbara Gordon could crossover with the likes of Wonder Woman and The Flash down the road.
With filming set to kick off soon, Leslie Grace has been getting in superhero shape ahead of cameras rolling. The star took to Twitter to share a brand new video of her training for Batgirl.
It’s unclear when Batgirl will begin rolling cameras but we have to imagine it’s soon now that the film is rounding out its supporting cast and its lead star has already begun training. We’ve yet to see Leslie Grace don the Batgirl suit, so that reveal should be the first of many DC fans get from the film in the coming months.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct Batgirl, which is being planned as a movie for the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max. The two most recently directed the 2020 box office hit Bad Boys for Life and episodes of the upcoming Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel. Christina Hodson, the screenwriter behind Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the script.
The Batgirl movie is set to follow the Barbara Gordon iteration of the Gotham City heroine. Barbara was last seen in a live-action feature film in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin, with Alicia Silverstone playing the iconic DC Comics character.
