The Mandalorian star Bill Burr would love to return for the Star Wars show’s third season but cannot say if he’s involved.
Bill Burr made his first appearance in the first season of The Mandalorian portraying the character Mayfield. In the show, the character was the leader of a crew of mercenaries with whom The Mandalorian, Din Djarin, teamed up in order to make a quick paycheck. Things, unfortunately, went south and Bill Burr’s character was arrested by New Republic forces.
In the Star Wars show’s second season, Bill Burr reprised the role of Mayfield in which he helped Din locate the recently kidnapped Grogu in an imperial base. Unfortunately, Mayfield runs into his old commander from his time in the Imperial Army who taunts Bill Burr’s character by recalling a story where they killed thousands of civilians. In response, Mayfield snapped, shooting his old commander, and the two had to fight their way out of the base. In exchange for his help, Mayfield is declared dead so he might go out and start a new life.
The Mandalorian was the first of the Disney Plus Star Wars shows and was the first original series the new streaming platform produced. This year marks the first where the show will not release a new season with The Book of Boba Fett being released in its place. But this hasn’t stopped the series’ actors from wanting to return.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant Bill Burr talked about how much he loved being a part of The Mandalorian and how much he hoped that he was going to be included in season three:
“Oh, I hope so. Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, who wrote both of my episodes that I did – to be a small part of something that big that is that good that means so much to so many people. I’m obviously not allowed to say anything other than I just absolutely love being on that show and I hope it continues and if it doesn’t, I’ve had a blast.”
Here is the synopsis for The Mandalorian:
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travels of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….”
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.
The first two seasons of The Mandalorian are available on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the Star Wars show and Bill Burr’s future in it and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
