Eternals star Gemma Chan wants her character to have a crossover with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie from the Thor films.
Back in 2017, Thor: Ragnarok hit theaters and was quickly declared one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considered by in large to be a massive step up from Thor: The Dark World, the movie currently holds a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and earned well over $850M at the worldwide box office. One of the film’s biggest highlights was the introduction of Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie who would reprise the role for Avengers: Endgame and is set to return for Thor: Love And Thunder.
Almost in seeming stark contrast to this is the impending release of Marvel’s newest film Eternals starring Gemma Chan. While the movie hasn’t been released yet it currently holds the lowest approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 56% approval rating as of this writing. This, however, has not stopped Chan from wanting to see her character interact with more members of the MCU.
While speaking to Comicbook.com, Gemma Chan revealed that she thought that her character, Sersi, would have a great time teaming up with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie:
“It’s so interesting actually, because obviously the Eternals have been on earth for the last 7,000 years. So they could have had several run-ins with them, various different characters. But I actually really think that Sersi and Valkyrie would have a lot of fun together.”
Here is the synopsis for the film:
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
