Angelina Jolie has teased at a deeper history between the Eternals and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers.
When the first trailer for Eternals dropped a question that was on everyone’s mind was where had these people been? After all, Earth had suffered through several major crises throughout its history including at least two invasions orchestrated by Thanos and several other incidents through the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The people behind the film have since attempted to explain this by saying it has something to do with the nature of the character’s relationship with their creators. However, star Angelina Jolie has hinted that something else might be going on.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Angelina Jolie teased a potential history with the Avengers but remained coy about what that might be and who it could involve:
“I think we’re assuming that we know everybody because we’ve been around forever. So we definitely had the opportunity to be everywhere in every… We’ve been, I think that’s the fun, now, if you watch the other ones, we’ve been there. The question is, are there certain things that Phastos’s [Brian Tyree Henry] created that you’ve been watching and thinking it came from something else? Was it actually Phastosor has somebody else been doing? You know, did you heal something, did something happen that you haven’t realized we’ve been there?”
Here is the synopsis for Angelina Jolie’s upcoming Marvel film, Eternals:
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film and its connection to the Avengers and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
