No Time To Die, Blade Runner 2049, and Knives Out star Ana de Armas is in talks to star in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina.
After the success of the first John Wick film, it became obvious that the people behind the movie had big plans for the franchise. After the second film was released, a third installment was soon announced as was a spinoff television series known as The Continental. The series recently cast its lead but the universe has at least one more spinoff in the works with Ana de Armas.
In a recent report, it was revealed that Ana de Armas was in talks to star in the upcoming project Ballerina. The John Wick spinoff has been in development for some time and is said to follow a young female assassin as she takes revenge against those who killed her family. Underworld director Len Wiseman will be helming the project from a script by Shay Hatten who co-wrote the franchise’s third film, John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum. It is currently unknown if the character will appear in any of the other films before leading her own.
Here is the official synopsis for the latest film in the franchise:
John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.
Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.
The next film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 4, is currently scheduled to be released on May 27, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the franchise and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
