151 applications mobiles qui escroquent les utilisateurs

Google est régulièrement critiqué pour ne pas faire suffisamment d’efforts dans la sécurisation de son marché applicatif Android, le Play Store. Et les choses ne vont pas s’améliorer après la découverte d’un lot de 151 applications frauduleuses qui escroquent les utilisateurs.

Avast met ainsi en garde contre une vaste campagne d’escroquerie organisée directement depuis le Google Play Store. Des applications distribuées en toute confiance arnaquent ainsi les utilisateurs.

Les applications qui font partie de la campagne baptisée « UltimaSMS » exploitent le malware Joker. Le malware, qui reste silencieux plusieurs jours après l’installation de l’application se charge de collecter des données sur l’utilisateur et de l’abonner à ses services payants par SMS.

Le malware repère la géolocalisation de l’utilisateur à partir de l’IMEI du téléphone, puis adapte son attaque pour abonner l’utilisateur à divers services payants par SMS accessibles dans le pays. Chaque semaine, ce sont de petites sommes qui sont ainsi prélevées, mais certaines victimes ont parfois eu la mauvaise surprise d’atteindre plus de 40 dollars de surfacturation mobile.

Au total, le lot de 151 applications concernées aurait été téléchargé plus de 10,5 millions de fois, la liste complète est la suivante :
