James Gunn has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 isn’t delayed amidst Marvel reshuffling most of its Phase 4 slate.
It was announced earlier this week that Disney would be delaying a vast majority of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 offerings, including projects like the Doctor Strange and Black Panther sequel. One project that didn’t suffer any delays was James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is slated to hit cinemas in May 2023.
The Marvel reshuffle also saw two untitled films get pulled from the release schedule, which isn’t necessarily a reason to worry as Disney likely wanted to give creatives some breathing room instead of a concrete date. Anxious fans took to Twitter to speculate if one of the pulled films was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which admittedly had a rocky production due to James Gunn’s previous firing.
James Gunn responded to a fan’s question on Twitter, confirming that his space opera threequel would neither be delayed nor pulled and that it’s “ready to go.”
Pre-production on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 appears to be wrapping up as Will Poulter was recently announced as Adam Warlock. Details on the threequel are slim, though it’s certain that the film will deal with the events of Avengers: Endgame and how they affect Gamora’s involvement with the team.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, and Will Poulter.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming James Gunn film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
