Ezra Miller addressed who the villain might be in The Flash during China’s DC FanDome event.
We know there will be several heroes in The Flash beyond Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster. Sasha Calle will make her debut as Supergirl, and Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are back as their versions of Batman.
However, one thing we don’t know is who the villain in The Flash is. Some DC fans speculate the villain is actually the other Barry Allen we saw in the first footage from The Flash. During China’s DC FanDome event, Ezra Miller had a wild response to who the film’s villain is:
“In one way, I’d say there’s a few villains, or so-called villains, who are in our movie. And then in another way, I’d say there aren’t any villains in a way that might be part of the exploration and message of the movie. I’m going to say those things because together they make no sense, and it leaves it all kind of cryptic and mysterious. Which is good for a villain to have an air of mystery that surrounds them — until they pop out!”
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline, which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.
The upcoming solo film will star Ezra Miller reprising their role as Barry Allen from Justice Leauge joined alongside Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Ron Livingston replacing Billy Crudup as Henry Allen, Sasha Calle debuting as Supergirl, and the return of Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as their versions of Batman.
The Flash is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on all of DC’s upcoming projects. You can also subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
