A third season of the Epix series Pennyworth will become an HBO Max exclusive.
During DC FanDome 2021, we got a brief update on the future of the DC Comics TV series Pennyworth. The show, which stars Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth during his younger years will be moving its third season to HBO Max. The series will also have a five-year time jump from the previous season.
Back in May, it was first reported that Pennyworth was looking to move from Epix to HBO Max. It will join other DC Comics-based series such as Titans, Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Green Lantern, Strange Adventures, DC Superhero High, and Gotham PD.
Given that the series is looking to take a pretty sizable five year time jump, it will be interesting to see where the story picks up from there. Although not a superhero, Alfred is one of the most integral characters not just to Batman, but perhaps in all of DC Comics. It’ll be interesting to see how things change when it moves to HBO Max.
Here is the synopsis for the first season of Pennyworth:
“The 10-episode, hour-long drama series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.”
Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth, Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes, Polly Walker as Peggy Sykes and, Jason Flemyng as Lord Hardwood.
