James Gunn has revealed who will score his upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and it isn’t Tyler Bates.
The road to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has not been an easy one. James Gunn was originally released from his directorial duties for the upcoming film after a series of old Tweets emerged where the director made a number of pedophile jokes. The “outrage” surrounding these jokes was eventually revealed to be the work of alt-right Twitter groups who took exception to the director’s anti-Trump stance.
This caused a massive outcry from James Gunn’s fans and the majority of Hollywood who felt the firing was unjust. After taking a job to write and direct The Suicide Squad at Warner Bros., James Gunn was eventually rehired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With his work on The Suicide Squad wrapped up, James Gunn has now diverted all of his attention to the upcoming Marvel film.
Recently it was revealed that The Maze Runner star Will Poulter was joining the cast of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 as Adam Warlock. As the cast begins to flesh out, it has been revealed that at least one major operator behind the scenes of the film will not be returning. Specifically, Tyler Bates will not be back to score the music for the third film. In a recent interview with CinmeaBlend James Gunn revealed that scoring duties would fall to John Murphy who worked with the director on The Suicide Squad:
“I had to get off of a zoom right before this zoom because I was talking to all of my heads of department. We were going through the finale of the film from shot to shot, to shot, to shot and explaining exactly how each shot was going to be done. Now, this stuff we’re going to shoot in May. So this is about just planning. After I get off of this, I’m going to have to go listen to some music that John Murphy wrote that we’re going to be playing during the movie. … I guess I’m spoiling the fact that John Murphy is doing the score for Guardians. So you guys got a scoop.”
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, and Will Poulter.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming James Gunn film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
