Eternals director Chloe Zhao has revealed that the film will have two “important” post-credits scenes
After a series of delays, Chloe Zhao’s Eternals is primed to hit cinemas later next month. Focused on a group of cosmic, immortal beings called Eternals, the Marvel Studios film shows their time on Earth throughout the centuries. Sent here to protect us puny humans from their counterparts, the Deviants, the eventually take ahold of our customs and join us in our ways.
Eternals is poised to be one of the most unique films out of Marvel’s upcoming slate and is expected to give audiences an insight as to what a post-blip world looked like from the being’s POV. The sci-fi epic will also feature two post-credits scenes that should inform viewers about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chloe Zhao revealed the news to Fandango and implored fans to stick it out for not just one, but two scenes that should be important for the franchise going forward.
“Yes! Don’t just stay for the first one — also stay for the second one, too. They are equally as important in weight, and both have big surprises for you.”
It’s unknown what exactly Eternals could be teasing but in typical MCU fashion, one credits scene will likely be a humorous stinger and the other a serious tease about what’s to come next. The next Marvel film after Eternals is Spider-Man: No Way Home, so perhaps Chloe Zhao’s sci-fi epic will be hinting towards Spidey’s multiversal adventure?
Here is the synopsis for Eternals:
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
Chloe Zhao directs Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Marvel film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
