The cast of The Matrix Resurrections reflects on the legacy of the iconic film franchise and how it has affected their own lives in a new video.
The first film in the iconic franchise, The Matrix, was released all the way back in 1999 and changed films forever. Praised by critics and a massive box-office success, The Matrix is still a film that is quoted by people to this day and continues to be one of the most influential action films of the late 90s. The two follow-ups, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions unfortunately were not as well received but failed to taint the legacy the first film had already established.
For some time, Warner Bros had some kind of new film in The Matrix franchise in development. What was unclear, however, was just what form the new film would take, with rumors abound that it would be a full-blown reboot with others stating it would be a prequel. Eventually, it was announced that the upcoming film would bring back original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss with the rest of the cast being filled up with veterans and newcomers.
In a recent video from Warner Bros. the cast of The Matrix Resurrections reflected on the legacy of the first film and how it has affected their lives to this day:
The Matrix and its two sequels collectively earned $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss portrayed Neo and Trinity, respectively, in all three chapters of the film series, each of which were directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.
Directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Brian J. Smith.
