Longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg shared his thoughts on Evan Peters’ appearance in WandaVision.
The X-Men franchise is under a new regime with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. When the series was under Fox, Simon Kinberg played a major part and even directed Dark Phoenix. Evan Peters starred in Dark Phoenix as Quicksilver and when he showed up in WandaVision, many Marvel fans believed Fox’s X-Men universe was being brought into the MCU.
Evan Peters turned out to be Ralph Bohner and the rest is history. Screen Rant recently caught up with former X-Men producer Simon Kinberg, who shared his thoughts on Peters’ WandaVision appearance and if he knew about it beforehand:
“No, I did not know it was going to happen in advance actually, which was wild. And I did see it in real time. In fact, I didn’t even see it in real time. I was late to it by a day or two, but obviously, I have Twitter and I also have two sons who were hardcore X-Men and Marvel fans, and they saw it and they immediately texted me and they were like, “Dad, did you see?” And I was like, “no, I haven’t seen the ep, thanks for spoiling it.” And then I saw it blowing up Twitter and then I was like, okay, well, immediately, obviously you have to go and watch it.“
Here is the official synopsis for Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix:
This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.
Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
Dark Phoenix is available on Digital HD, 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the X-Men franchise and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
