Tom Holland has teased a crossover between his Spider-Man & Tom Hardy’s Venom.
Major spoilers ahead for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Audience members who stuck around for Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘s mid-credits scene last night absolutely lost their minds when it was revealed that Tom Hardy’s symbiote would be folded into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The mid-credits scene for the highly-anticipated sequel saw Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom lounging in a dingy hotel room before being transported to an unknown room after a blaring, yellow light caused a rumble. In the new room, the television cuts to the news transmission of J. Jonah Jameson revealing Spider-Man’s identity to the world from Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The mid-credits scene cemented the long-gestating rumors and speculation that both Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom would eventually meet. It’s still unclear if Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the MCU are linked, or if Venom was transported to the MCU thanks to the multiverse, but we’re here for whichever direction the creatives choose. As if the hype from audiences isn’t enough, Holland himself chimed on Instagram, teasing the soon-to-be-legendary crossover.
While Venom star Tom Hardy and director Andy Serkis have spoken at lengths about how they would like to crossover with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, this is the first time in a while where Spidey himself has alluded to the two universes marrying. Holland’s blatantly obvious tease should excite audiences into knowing that a full-fledged crossover in some shape or another is on its way. Now, does that crossover happen in No Way Home or a future film? Only time will tell.
Here is the synopsis for Sony’s first Venom film:
“The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?”
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
Venom is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, while Andy Serkis’ Let There Be Carnage is out now in cinemas.
