Morbius star Jared Leto took to social media to share his excitement for Sony & Marvel’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
After a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jared Leto’s take on the Morbius, the Living Vampire, is finally set to hit cinemas this January. The film is next to come out of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe after Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which debuts later this week. While both films are connected through their universe, it’s unclear if they’re narratively or thematically connected.
It’s uncertain if a crossover is in the works between Venom and Morbius but it’s confirmed that Jared Leto is hyped to see Let There Be Carnage this weekend. The Academy Award-winning actor took to Twitter to share the poster for Venom: Let There Be Carnage with the apt caption: “Can’t wait to sink my teeth into it…”
Morbius is set to directly feature references to Spider-Man, with Homecoming‘s Michael Keaton reprising his role as Adrian Toomes, so there is some connection to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe there. Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s cast and crew have frequently discussed a crossover with Spider-Man in the future, so maybe that’s how both of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe films can meld together? We’ll find out soon enough if Tom Hardy’s Venom sequel directly references or teases Morbius. If not, we’ll have to wait until January to see if both films are connected.
Here is the official synopsis for Morbius:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.
Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the film stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster, while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.
Morbius will hit theaters on January 28th, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Tom Hardy’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
