‘What If…?’ Showrunner Teases A “Weirder” Second Season

What If…? showrunner A.C. Bradley has teased a second season that’s both weirder and wilder than the first.

Marvel Studios has hit a homerun with What If…?, their first animated series. Not only does the series stand on its own two feet as a quality animated show, but it perfectly compliments the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s offerings by giving fans hypothetical insights into potential stories that could have made their way into the studio’s live-action roster. The first season has been praised by both fans and critics for its originality, confident and risky storytelling, and stellar animation. It looks like the second season, which is already in production, is already a winner in its own right.

In a chat with Deadline’s Hero Nation, What If…? showrunner A.C. Bradley discussed how the second season will double down on the weirdness from the first one.

“Season 2 is a lot of fun. The training wheels come off, and we get to do a little bit weirder, wilder. There’s one episode which is probably the closest to my own personality I’ve ever written. It’s heartfelt. It’s full of action and bad ‘90s clothing choices.”

The What If…? showrunner didn’t offer any episode details beyond her brief little tease. We do know that Captain Carter will return in the upcoming season but it remains to be seen if the roster that debuted in season one will make its way to the second season.

Here is the synopsis for What If…?:

“Exploring pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turning them on their head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.”

What If…? features the voices of Josh Brolin, Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Michael B Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Jeffrey Wright, Hayley Atwell, and other major stars from the MCU.

The first six episodes of What If…? are available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the series, Tony Stark, and the rest of the MCU’s Phase 4, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
