Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis believes there’s a lot to explore with Ravencroft before the character crosses paths with Spider-Man.
Ravencroft Institute is essentially Spider-Man’s Arkham Asylum, and the comic book location first appeared on the big screen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. A new version of Ravencroft will return in Andy Serkis’ Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
It seems Sony is planning to do a Sinister Six movie down the line in their Spider-Man universe, and Ravencroft could easily tie all the villains together. Many want to see Tom Hardy’s Venom crossover with Spider-Man sometime soon, but director Andy Serkis told Screen Rant that he is more interested in exploring the Ravencroft villains first:
“But I think there’s real mileage in some of the other supervillains that reside in Ravencroft. I think there’s so much… There’s such fertile ground to be uncovered there. That would be the sandbox I’d be really interested in playing. Who’s lurking in there that could break out?
Here is the synopsis for Sony’s first Venom film:
“The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?”
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
Venom is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, while Andy Serkis’ Let There Be Carnage will hit theaters on October 1.
