James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson won’t begin to look for Daniel Craig’s 007 replacement until next year.
After a series of delays due to director changes, script rewrites, and the COVID-19 pandemic, No Time To Die is finally set to hit cinemas later next month. The film is set to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond, a character he has played since 2006’s Casino Royale. Craig’s departure is bittersweet as the actor propelled the 007 franchise to the modern, gritty age. Now that he’s on his way out, it’s time to find the next MI6 agent to step into his shoes.
In a recent chat with BBC Radio 4, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli confirmed that she hasn’t started to look for the next 007 and that the search won’t start until 2022.
“We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year we’ll start thinking about the future.”
James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson chimed in, stating that the next 007 actor has some “big shoes to fill”.
A lot has been said about who the next James Bond should be. Many have been championing Idris Elba and Henry Cavill as the next 007 agents, though both their plates appear to be full with other genre fares. The producers will likely go after a lesser-known or up-and-coming actor to step into Daniel Craig’s shoes, as has often been tradition when it comes to such castings.
Here is the plot synopsis for No Time To Die:
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, No Time to Die stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik and Dali Benssalah.
No Time To Die is now scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on October 8, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news surrounding Daniel Craig and No Time To Die, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
