When asked if he’d be popping up in Eternals as the villain Kro, Dan Stevens playfully responded with a brilliant pun.
Eternals is set to be one of Marvel’s most stacked films, with heavyweights like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and Bryan Tyree Henry making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. It has also been said that Dan Stevens – best known for his role in the Marvel series Legion and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast – is also set to pop up in the film as the villain Kro. Marvel hasn’t officially announced Stevens in the role and has failed to even tease his potential appearance in any promotional material.
In a recent chat with Collider, Dan Stevens was asked if he could comment on the speculation that suggests he’s in Eternals. Stevens, quite the wordsmith, responded with “Kro comment,” an obvious play on “No comment.” It should be noted that Collider’s Steven Weintraub never mentioned the Deviant Kro in his initial comment, so it’s interesting how Dan Stevens willingly brought the character up.
When asked to clarify his playful response, Dan Stevens leaned into the interviewer’s confused nature.
“I said ‘Kro comment’, but I don’t know if that’s cryptic enough? Even if I could say anything, I wouldn’t be able to.”
Unlike other stars who have denied their roles in Marvel films, Dan Stevens perfectly leans into it, even going so far as to mention the character he’s rumored to play. Of course, this doesn’t confirm anything, but there is an increasing chance that the British star might be popping in a multiplex near you this November!
Here is the synopsis for Chloe Zhao’s Eternals:
“When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.”
Chloé Zhao is directing Eternals from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
