Lila Grace opens Richard Quinn.
This week, London Fashion Week returned after 18 months of digital-only shows to a mix of presentations, runway shows and virtual experiences. Although there was the return of street style and fashion week parties, a lack of international guests, smaller capacities and financial pressure meant it wasn’t quite business as usual. Many of the big players were missing from the schedule, such as JW Anderson, Christopher Kane and Burberry, and so the week naturally had more of a focus on emerging, young talent. The likes of Rejina Pyo, Nensi Dojaka and Supriya Lele created the standout shows that garnered the most attention.
Although the overall schedule felt restrained, the clothes we saw on the runway certainly weren’t, as they felt like an antidote to months of lockdowns and restrictions. These are clothes to have fun in, with a move away from comfort and simplicity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a colourful fashion week, as highlighter shades and juicy colour combinations dominated. In terms of fit, we saw a return to sexy dressing, with visible bras, cut-outs everywhere you could think of and body-con, body-con and even more body-con. There were four trends, in particular, that stood out to our team, so keep scrolling to see the most exciting looks for S/S 22.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much colour at London Fashion Week, with highly saturated shades, neon and juicy colour combinations. Favourites were the strong lilacs and highlighter yellows at Richard Quinn, zesty pairings at Rejina Pyo and the vibrant green at Erdem. You won’t be able to scroll through the next few slides without a smile or two.

Floss detailing has been around for several seasons now with ties at the waist. However, this season, we saw spaghetti straps in all forms. We particularly loved the three white super-thin straps on a floral gown at Erdem. Perfection.

If the S/S 22 collections could be summed up in one word, it would be sexy. So given this, it’s not surprising that bras and bikinis featured heavily at the likes of Rejina Pyo, David Koma and Nensi Dojaka.

The most beautiful trend of all is the white wow dresses that we saw at the likes of Molly Goddard, Simone Rocha and Harris Reed. These are just waiting for a fashion bride or someone wanting to make an impact at their next party.
