Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio is hopeful that he’ll get to reprise his role as Kingpin in the future.
Netflix and Marvel absolutely knocked it out of the park with the gritty Daredevil series that reinvented the character for the modern era. Not only was the show packed with explosive action, engaging storylines, but it was perfectly cast. We can’t even begin to tell you loads of acclaim Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio received for their roles as Matt Murdock and Kingpin, respectively. The praise for D’Onofrio’s soft-spoken but menacing Kingpin was paramount at the time of release and it’s a shame the beloved character actor hasn’t gotten a shot to reprise the role.
Netflix and Marvel canceled Daredevil in 2018 after it was decided that all future Marvel shows would be released on the then-unnamed Disney Plus streaming service. Since then, Vincent D’Onofrio has openly discussed how he’d love to take on the role of Kingpin again. In a recent chat with ScreenRant, Vincent D’Onofrio once again candidly discussed how he wishes to return to the role of Kingpin.
I do take it as a compliment. I so badly want to play that character again. I love that character. I just have to wait for Marvel to ask me. I think it’s very clear that I would, and the fans know that I would jump at the chance to play again. I just need to be asked.
Current speculation suggests that Kingpin will be popping up in Hawkeye opposite Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. Of course, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but it would be an interesting way to fold Vincent D’Onorfrio’s fan-favorite character in the traditional MCU. Daredevil is also expected to pop up in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Here’s the synopsis for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye.
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Brian d’Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh is expected to return in her Black Widow role.
Hawkeye is set to premiere on November 24, exclusively on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Daredevil‘s Vincent D’Onofrio’s potential return as Kingpin and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
