Although there is more Bottega available than one street style photographer can capture alone, you’ll also find that the attendees of London Fashion Week like to wear pieces from the high street as much as the next human being. The difference is, perhaps, that editors, buyers and the like have a little more experience when it comes to choosing the affordable items that really look expensive and really do last. As a discerning bunch, we’re pretty averse to throwaway fashion or wearing something only once, so the time spent behind selecting key items from cheaper stores is something you can all benefit from. We’ve done a great deal of the trawling, the trying and the sending back to feel confident in what we do actually recommend.
The street style trends at LFW have been a mixture of luxe basics (think summer’s beige-trouser trend continued…) and the avant-garde (hello, crazy-bright colour clashes), so it makes sense that the high-street items we’ve noticed trending reflect the same duality. From simple, timeless items like a leather skirt from COS through to something more vibrant, such as a poppin’ pink dress from Warehouse, below are the very best high-street pieces we’ve seen on the street style set at London Fashion Week this September…
Style Notes: The vibrancy of pink and generous volume of fabric in this Warehouse dress make it look much more special than a high-street find. It’s great for party season, but we also like how Stella has dressed it down with black boots here.
Style Notes: Sandra’s elegant combination is one that will work year upon year, and considering that leather comes back as a trend every single autumn, it will also tick the box for looking current, too.
Style Notes: I was only just talking about leather in regards to the COS skirt above, but the high street also specialises in trousers. These smart joggers from Karen Millen are one of the only decent pairs of real-leather plus-size trousers I can hunt down, so they’re well worth checking out.
Style Notes: We’ve seen the waistcoat rising to prominence, and it’s one of those trends that you can’t pinpoint as cheap or expensive, no matter where the item is from. This Mango one looks so chic with straight-leg jeans and cowboy boots.
Style Notes: I’ve told you once, and I’m telling you again: JW Pei’s bags are a whole load of bang for your buck. Multiple street style women have been seen carrying the ruched-handle Gabbi bags, so consider this another alert!
Next up, these are the autumn 2021 trends to know now.
