Suicide Squad director David Ayer has revealed two new Joker-centric images from his cut of the Warner Bros. film.
With James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad now behind us, David Ayer is back to posting images from his own take on Task Force X. Ayer has been nothing but positive regarding The Suicide Squad, but the director has also been campaigning for the release of his original version of its predecessor Suicide Squad, which opened in theaters back in 2016 as the third entry in the DC Extended Universe.
Earlier this week, David Ayer took to his Instagram page to share two never-before-seen images from his Suicide Squad cut. Both images were taken from scenes involving Jared Leto’s Joker, a character that was featured in many of the sequences that didn’t make it into the film’s theatrical cut.
The first movie followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn delivered a fresh take on the team with his movie, which premiered this past August.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid and Taika Waititi.
The Suicide Squad is currently playing in theaters. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news surrounding David Ayer and the future of the DC Extended Universe, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
