Karen Gillan Says She Cried Reading ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script

Karen Gillan had an emotional experience reading the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 script.

James Gunn is set to jump from the DC Extended Universe back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The writer/director has proclaimed that he sees the film as a definitive conclusion to a trilogy, and has previously teased some major deaths may be incoming for the beloved team. As it turns out, Karen Gillan found the film’s script to be quite emotional.

While speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Karen Gillan revealed that while reading the script with her co-star Pom Klementieff, they read through James Gunn’s story in tears:

“We read it in the same room together, and then looked at each other and we were in floods of tears… You’re learning more about existing characters and on a deeper level. I’m really excited at exploring Nebula, post-Thanos.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Karen Gillan brings Nebula to life in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, especially given that much of her character development was defined by her relationship with her father Thanos (Josh Brolin). Now that she alongside the Avengers have defeated him, we’ll see how her journey continues.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn. The cast was last seen in Avengers: Endgame. Here’s the synopsis:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the upcoming sequel and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
