Tom Hardy shared a little bit of insight on the approach to the Venom franchise and a potential third film.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage will hit theaters soon, and reactions from a recent fan screening are starting to pour out. The word from those screenings appears to be positive, with many highlighting the film’s post-credits scene.
It seems Sony has big plans for Venom, and Tom Hardy recently shared his excitement for a potential sequel and its possibilities while speaking with ET Canada:
“There’s a Venom-Verse, you know, there’s a Spider-Verse, there’s multiverses, there’s all kinds of canon and lore and mythology to explore both laterally and forward in time. I think with the right people and the right planning, and feedback from the audience, and understanding it’s about making the right choices at the right time… Even with foresight of understanding where things may go already or they wish to go, it’s a combination of all those in the alchemy of what it will be.”
Here is the synopsis for Sony’s first Venom film:
The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
Venom is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, while Let There Be Carnage will hit theaters on October 1. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the franchise’s future, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
