Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter is eager to return to her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Way back in the early 2010s, Marvel Studios cut a deal with Netflix to launch a number of original series that would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The results were the highly praised Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage series and the less well-received Iron Fist and Punisher series. Then, starting in late 2018, Netflix began to gradually pull the plug on the various Marvel shows with the final season of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones debuting in 2019.
Since the cancelation of the Marvel Netflix shows, it hasn’t been entirely clear what will become of these versions of the characters nor if they are still technically canon within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is reportedly appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home but there is currently no word on whether or not the characters from the other Netflix shows will appear. Some, however, are eager to come back to the MCU.
While speaking to ScreenRant, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter didn’t confirm whether or not any deals for her return were in the works but did reveal how happy she would be to reprise the role:
“I would absolutely just die to play Jessica again. I had the best time doing it and I just love her so much. I’m so proud of that character. Not only because it was like a great role and she’s such a bad-ass, but that character has really resonated with people in a way that I don’t know who else has. Really, really resonated with women and girls, trauma survivors. It’s just so, so big and such a thing I’m so grateful to have been a part of. So if there’s ever an opportunity for me to put on those boots, I will be there in a flash.”
Here is the plot synopsis for the third season of Jessica Jones:
When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter, Rachel Taylor, Eka Darville, Benjamin Walker, Jeremy Bobb, Sarita Choudhury, Tiffany Mack, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aneesh Sheth, Rebecca DeMornay, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
