Andrew Garfield claims that he knows what happens in Spider-Man: No Way Home despite maintaining that he’s not in the Marvel film.
For the last few months, The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has maintained that he won’t be popping up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s third solo outing as the web-slinger. Despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise, Garfield has stuck to his guns, most recently denying the validity of an image that suggested he was on the set of the Marvel Studios production.
Andrew Garfield has been fielding questions left and right these last few days as he participates in the virtual press tour for The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Speaking with Newsweek, the Silence actor discussed how the Spider-Man rumors are cool and all – but that they’re not going to come in fruition come this December.
“It’s an exciting idea that people are kind of obsessing over and I would be too if I was, you know, just, out there not knowing what was going on. But I do know what’s going on and I’m afraid it’s going to be very disappointing for people.”
The Hacksaw Ridge actor continued by discussing how he can’t control what fans think and he understands where they’re coming from.
“But what can I do? I have to let people be disappointed. That’s a big part of my recovery in my life is, I have to allow people to have their own feelings, I can’t mitigate or control anyone else’s experience. That’s a practice of mine. So if they want to create an expectation for themselves, that’s up to them.”
Andrew Garfield has been denying his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home for almost a year at this point. All signs point to him genuinely appearing in the film, but seeing as we’ll see Spidey return in December, the wait isn’t too long to determine if Garfield is a liar or one of the more honest stars in Hollywood.
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:
