The Mandalorian and WandaVision have won more Emmy Awards for Disney Plus.
After its launch in November 2019, Disney Plus instantly became a massive success, and for much of its first year, it was held by the debut of its first original series, The Mandalorian. The first live-action series set in the Star Wars universe was considered the streaming platform’s primary anchor for an entire year, but the aggressive expansion of the platform went into overdrive when the first official Marvel Studios series premiered in WandaVision.
With both The Mandalorian and WandaVision, Disney Plus had two massively successful series exclusive to the platform, getting praise from critics and audiences alike. Now, both series have brought home some Emmy Awards glory.
During the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held on Saturday, The Mandalorian took home the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour), and Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour).
As for WandaVision, which earned the first Emmy Awards for Marvel Studios ever, the series brought home two, one for Narrative (Half Hour) Production Design, and the other for Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.
Both The Mandalorian and WandaVision are still in the running for the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony tonight. The Mandalorian will be competing in the Outstanding Drama Series category while WandaVision will be competing in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.
Matt Shakman directed the series with Jac Schaeffer as the lead scribe with Kevin Feige producing; WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Evan Peters as Ralph Bohner, and Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness.
The first two seasons of The Mandalorian and the entirety of WandaVision are both available to stream exclusively on Disney Plus. Keep following along to stay up to date on all of the latest surrounding other upcoming Star Wars and MCU projects and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
