Marvel Studios released a clip from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings featuring Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery and his companion, Morris.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe in numerous ways, including the introduction of the mystical lore of Ta Lo, the Ten Rings and more. The film also tied into previous story beats from the MCU, including the infamous Iron Man 3 Mandarin twist with Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery.
Iron Man 3 is notable for its controversial twist that Ben Kingsley wasn’t the Mandarin at all, but rather British actor Trevor Slattery, posing as the Mandarin. The character returned in a Marvel One-Shot short film, All Hail the King, in which he was taken in by the real Mandarin, whose real name is Wenwu (Tony Leung).
We catch up with Trevor Slattery eight years after the release of Iron Man 3, now that he’s been in Wenwu’s custody, and in the new clip released by Marvel, we see that he has a newfound appreciation for his craft, and is relieved to see that Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) can also see his fluffy companion Morris, a mythical hundun. As you can see, Trevor Slattery and Morris are truly inseparable:

Although his appearance in Shang-Chi was confirmed before the film officially hit theaters, the extent of Ben Kingsley’s role as Trevor Slattery was pretty surprising. What many would’ve guessed would’ve been a cameo turned out to be a slightly larger role than expected, which is a great bit of fan service for MCU fans that have followed the narrative after all these years. Here’s hoping we see more from Trevor Slattery and Morris together in the future.
Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings:
