‘The Matrix 4’ Reveals First Look At Keanu Reeves As Neo Ahead Of Trailer Debut

The first looks at Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from The Matrix 4 have been revealed.

The Matrix Resurrections will debut its first trailer this Thursday. Ahead of The Matrix 4‘s trailer, Warner Bros. has resurrected WhatisTheMatrix.com, an interactive site that allows users to choose between a red or blue pill – a choice that Keanu Reeves’ Neo made in the first film. Depending on which pill you choose, you are greeted with brief glimpses at the film’s upcoming trailer. There are over 180,000 video variations between both choices, so get clicking if you want an early look at the highly anticipated sequel.

If you click on the red pill, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s mysterious character says “This is the moment for you to show us what is real.” If one chooses to click on the blue pill, Neil Pattrick Harris’ character presumably Neo’s therapist – says “You’re lost your capacity to discern reality from fiction.” Fun fact: both characters say the exact, correct time attributed to your timezone with each brief teaser. Be sure to check it out.

Thanks to the brief teasers, we have our first looks at Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s mysterious character – who many have theorized to be a young Morpheus.

The trailer for The Matrix 4 was screened last month at CinemaCon where it received tons of praise. It’s unclear if the trailer we’ll receive on Thursday is the same that was screened at the convention. The trailer that premiered at the Vegas convention teased the idea that The Matrix 4 would, in a way, be retelling the first film’s story, similar to how The Force Awakens was a loose remake of A New Hope.

The Matrix and its two sequels collectively earned $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss portrayed Neo and Trinity, respectively, in all three chapters of the film series, each of which were directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.

Directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, the upcoming The Matrix sequel stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Brian J. Smith.

The Matrix 4 is currently set to hit theaters on December 22, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on The Matrix 4 and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
