Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Angela Bassett says Chadwick Boseman’s presence was felt for the first week on the set of the upcoming Marvel film.
Last year Chadwick Boseman sadly passed away after a four-year battle with colon cancer. It came as a particular shock to everyone as the actor had opted not to disclose his sickness to any but a few close friends and family. The news came following the announcement that a second Black Panther film was in development and the question that is on everyone’s mind is how will the franchise deal with the actor’s passing?
Little is known about the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but we do know that Disney and Marvel had opted not to recast the character nor will they recreate the actor using digital effects. His death, however, has left a big hole in the franchise that has yet to be filled. While speaking to The Guardian, star Angela Bassett said that Chadwick Boseman’s presence could be felt on the set of the film especially during the first week:
“Everyone felt, the first week of shooting, the presence of Chadwick and missing him on that throne, but we all came together and just paid homage to him before we began, which was wonderful … everyone just speaking beautiful words about him and expressing how much we care and how he informed and inspired us.”
Here is the synopsis for the first Black Panther film:
After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
