The Spider-Man: No Way Home IMAX trailer debunked a Daredevil fan theory.
Nearly two weeks ago, the long-awaited first trailer for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped, leaving fans in excitement. Naturally, the trailer was dissected within in each frame, with fans all around the world speculating on what’s to come for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Ever since it dropped, many fans have rallied around a theory that Daredevil star Charlie Cox is in the trailer, although his face is obscured.
The moment in question revolves around Peter getting interrogated at a police station about the death of Mysterio. We see an individual in a white dress shirt and black tie slam a file in front of him. Given reports of Charlie Cox’s potential involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans were hoping that the trailer would tease his return as Daredevil. However, the IMAX version of the trailer debunks such a theory.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings just opened in theaters this weekend, and fans seeing the film in IMAX may be treated to the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer in an expanded aspect ratio formatted for the larger screen. When that moment from the trailer appears, it is revealed that the character in question is not Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil.
Despite the fact that this IMAX trailer debunks the popular fan theory, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t be seeing the Daredevil star reprising his role as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sure, the actor recently denied his involvement in the film, but many actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have had a history of dismissing rumors until they were inevitably confirmed sometime down the line. Here’s hoping that we see him!
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:
