The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it throwback to Homecoming.
The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was absolutely bonkers as it teased the future of Peter Parker, as well as a live-action Spider-Verse. Even a week later, fans are still talking about the Doctor Octopus reveal at the end of the trailer. While the vast majority of the conversation surrounding the Marvel and Sony production has been about the villains, eagle-eyed fans have noticed easter eggs that tie the threequel back to the original: Homecoming.
In the trailer, Zendaya’s MJ can be seen lying in bed as she chats with Peter through the phone. Right behind MJ, on her wall, fans will find her drawing of Coach Wilson, which she drew in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s the third sketch on the wall.
Right beside the sketch of Coach Wilson is a drawing MJ did of Peter whilst he was in detention. It’s the second sketch on the wall.
Even though Zendaya’s iteration of MJ fashions herself to be aloof and stoic, it’s clear that the character possesses a certain level of nostalgia and sentimentality towards her artwork, as well as the people around her! Hopefully, we see the character continue to grow in No Way Home.
