James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has topped Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder’s Justice League in HBO Max views.
It’s well known at this point that The Suicide Squad didn’t fare too well at the box office, but the film was also released on HBO Max. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad joined Wonder Woman 1984 and other 2021 films from Warner Bros. with a simultaneous release in theaters and on streaming.
According to a new report from Deadline, Samba TV metrics reveal that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad scored 4.7 million households in its first 17 days. This figure tops Wonder Woman 1984‘s 3.9 million and the Snyder Cut’s 3.2 million. Mortal Kombat holds the top spot overall with 5.5 million and Godzilla vs. Kong is in second at 5.1 million.
Here is the synopsis for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.
