A new Halloween Special from Marvel Studios is currently in development at Disney Plus.
Marvel Studios has had quite a bit of success with Disney Plus. WandaVision, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki were all critical successes and drew in a huge number of viewers for the streaming platform. Now the comic book movie studio that cannot be stopped is adding a Halloween special to its library.
According to The Wrap, Marvel Studios is now developing a Halloween Special for Disney Plus. Details on the upcoming special are vague but the special is said to be casting for a Latino male in his late 30s to star in the project. The Halloween Special and character may be based around the character Werewolf by Night who is usually referred to as Werewolf in Marvel comics.
In the Marvel canon, there are two versions of Werewolf at Night that exist. The first is the Jack Russell version who first appeared in 1972 in Marvel Spotlight #2. The second version of the character is known as Jake Gomez was introduced in Werewolf by Night #1 in 2020. The upcoming Halloween Special is said to begin production sometime in the first quarter of 2022.
Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate of films includes The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. In addition to the aforementioned feature films and the Halloween Special, Marvel Studios is developing several shows for Disney Plus, including Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight.
