The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home appears to briefly tease Rhys Ifans’ Lizard.
It finally happened! After (im)patiently waiting for months, fans were finally treated to the first official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The first official look came shortly after the trailer was seemingly leaked on Sunday evening. Naturally, the internet lost its collective mind as soon as the trailer dropped. Some of the highlights included Peter Parker interacting with Doctor Strange, Spidey swinging through the city of New York folding upon itself, and of course: Alfred Molina returning as Doctor Octopus.
While Doctor Octopus was the only villain explicitly shown, other villains were teased, such as Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, whose iconic pumpkin bomb was seen rolling onto a bridge, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, whose lightning levels a park. A more subtle villain tease was also present in the trailer. Some fans believe that Rhys Ifans’ Lizard was seen in the Spider-Man trailer. In a brief shot, a suit and tied-up Peter Parker is seen being startled as a figure locked up behind him rattles in a glass cage. A reptilian-like creature can be seen when the footage is slowed down, implying that Ifans’ Lizard will be rounding out the roster of villains.
It’s not surprising that Rhys Ifans’ Lizard is retuning for Spider-Man: No Way Home but it does certainly come out of left field. Most of the reports and rumors previously suggested that only Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, and Alfred Molina would return as their Spider-Man villains. Regardless, it’s exciting that more villains are being brought into the fold. Who knows, we might even see the likes of the Vulture or Rhino appear?
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: Far From Home:
