Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse producer Christopher Miller has teased potential live-action Spider-Man cameos for the Spider-Verse sequel.
One of the most memorable superhero films to come out in the last decade, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse did a perfect job of capturing the Spider-Man mythos whilst also introducing viewers to the Spider-Verse: a reality in which multiple Spider-people can co-exist at the same time. The film would have been great a way to see Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men interact with one another as Into The Spider-Verse had no shortage of Spideys.
Unfortunately, producer Christopher Miller revealed that the plan to have all three live-action web-slinger share the screen was shot down by Sony Pictures. The studio felt that all three live-action Spider-Men sharing the screen would be “too soon.” Now that the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has dropped, and with all signs pointing out to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield starring in what is ostensibly a live-action Spider-Verse project, the Spider-Verse producer teased that the live-action Peter Parkers might just join in on the animated sequel.
It’s also possible that Christopher Miller is poking fun at the fact that Sony just ran with the originally pitched idea but formatted it for the live-action film. Should the three live-action Peter Parkers share the screen in No Way Home, it would open up the possibility for more appearances in the future. The Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sequel would be the best way to have all three characters together as they wouldn’t be limited by the rules of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
