Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Provides Update On ‘Loki’ Season 2

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has provided a much-needed update regarding the search for a new Loki director.

It was a surprise for many when it was revealed at the end of Loki‘s final episode that there would be a second season. It was always assumed that the Tom Hiddleston-led series would be a miniseries like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It’s understandable why Marvel Studios was keen on a second season seeing that the first ended with the multiverse opening up and Loki completely displaced from his timeline. While it’s exciting that we’ll be getting more TVA and time-hopping shenanigans, it was disappointing to learn that Loki director Kate Herron wouldn’t be returning for the show’s second outing.

With no director in tow, production on the second season hasn’t started as of yet. However, in a recent chat with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige gave a much-needed update regarding the future of the show. Feige revealed to the outlet that Marvel Studios is currently searching for a new director.

“It is underway. We’re developing it as we speak. The hope is that much of the same team will return. Kate is going on to bigger and better things, so the director search will begin shortly.”

While it’s good to know that Marvel Studios is treating Loki as a priority, it’s uncertain when we can expect a second season. It’s unlikely that it will be released next year considering the COVID-19 pandemic has still shuttered numerous productions. And it’s clear that Kevin Feige isn’t one to rush a project into production, so we’ll just have to wait and watch regarding Loki‘s future.

Here is the synopsis for Loki:

In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Kate Herron, with Michael Waldron serving as head writer, the new series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Loki season one is now streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
