Carl Weathers has revealed that the third season of The Mandalorian starts filming in September.
The third season of The Mandalorian is taking a little longer than usual due to COVID-19 but it looks like Mando and the team will be back soon enough. The second season of The Mandalorian ended with the titular character saying farewell to “The Child” as he goes on to go train with Luke Skywalker. Details are slim on the future of the show, though it has been confirmed that Cara Dune actor Gina Carano will not be returning. On the other hand, her partner in crime and accomplice to Mando, Greef Karga, played by Carl Weathers, will be returning both in front of the camera and behind it.
Fandom Spotlite was on hand at the Steel City Con, where they saw Carl Weathers reveal that the third season of The Mandalorian would begin filming next month, a.k.a September. He also confirmed that he’ll be returning to direct, though he didn’t reveal how many episodes would be under his belt.
“We’re gonna start a new season of The Mandalorian, within the next month. Yeah. And I get to be in front of camera again, and I get to direct again.”
Carl Weathers previously directed “Chapter 12: The Siege” from The Mandalorian‘s second season. While it’s disappointing we won’t be getting a third season this year, fans still have The Book of Boba Fett to look forward to, which is set to hit Disney Plus later this year.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.
The Mandalorian is available to stream Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
